It Happened Here

Influenced by Bill Bryson, the author recalls his first trip to Europe where he and his wife first walked the battlefields that he would later write about, though he didn't know it at the time. All he knew was that he was obsessed with finding the exact location that events took place so that he could understand them better. Along the way he absorbed - and at times, unintentionally disrupted - the culture, drank beer, spoke to locals and discovered more than a few things about himself and where he came from.
