Alone on a deserted island in Lake Michigan, five kids learn to survive. Ages five to thirteen, they are orphans and foster children who simply want a home. No one saw them stow away on the yacht. Nor did anyone see them climb overboard and into a life raft in the middle of the night. Armed with only the meager supplies in their pockets, they learn to fish and make a shelter and even hunt. Only twelve-year-old Karen knows Jesus as her Savior. But when trouble comes, the other four find it reassuring to know that Karen is praying for help. But now, winter is coming on. Can even God help them?

Good, until the epilogue, then not so much

It was fun to hear this read by my friend Betsie, and I liked the story too. Until the epilogue. That was too much and brought the rating from 5 stars to 4 stars ... at best.
