Dr. Denetria Brooks-James, DSW, LCSW-S has been in the mental health field for 21 plus years. The author received her BSW and MSW from East Tennessee State, in Johnson City, TN. She obtained her DSW from St. Thomas University, in St. Paul, MN. She obtained her Coaching Certification from Insight Coaching Community. She has authored 5 previous books and delivered numerous presentations related to mental health, self-care, and bullying issues.
Dr. Brooks-James is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Supervisor designation in the state of Texas. She is an active member of the NASW Texas chapter and currently holds the Alamo Branch Chair position. She is also an active member of the Texas NASW Ethical Board. She received the Texas Social Worker of the Year award in 2022.
On a personal note, the author is a mother of two, a grandmother of four, a dog mom and the oldest of four girls. She enjoys learning, traveling and being the best person, she can be to all she encounters.
