It was the right book at the right time

After listening to a podcast where he was a guest I was hoping to hear more of Dave’s backstory. Growing up, stories from his time in an ODA, etc… so I have to admit that I was a little disappointed. I’m giving this book 5 stars though because there are people that need to hear it. After losing a brother and a dad to suicide I needed to hear it but didn’t realize it. Thank you for your service Dave and thank you for your story.

Honest no holds barred story and many can relate , thank you for sharing . You are certainly not alone

Middle school Drama memoir… not a fan

Far too much drama, not much of a story for first 6 chapters. Relationship book about high maintenance guy and girls

Fantastic listen

Dave's authenticity and humility really come through in this book. It shows that even the toughest people have personal demons they must overcome. The challenges he shares are common for anyone who has deployed, not just for operators. 10/10 recommend

Disappointing

That old saying never judge a book by its cover. I made a mistake thinking that the fantastic cover showing masculinity and war I assumed that the The book would have the same topics within it But boy was I wrong. The majority of this book is him just complaining about his divorce and his new girlfriend not working out I thought if I slugged through these Sob stories That there would be at least a decent pay out at the end of the store. But no I was wrong again It was the most anticlimactic ending for a "war" book.

I still have no idea what the point of the book is.

as an SF soldier, an avid audiobook listener, I wish I'd read a McDonald's drive-thru menu instead. all he did. the entire book is wine and cry. at some point I started rooting for his ex-girlfriend and ex-wife, at one point I even started to root for the Iranian missiles. if I compare this book to pizzas, this book is like the Frozen generic pizza that you get from the grocery store when you drop the pizza on the floor and eat the cardboard piece from underneath the pizza instead for dinner.
