Wow, were there some eye-opening parts to this title that Jo Mills has so carefully crafted and put together. It was so illuminating to read that the way our parents acted (and continue to act, perhaps), has such a profound impact on our characters (I mean, go figure.) But until this is brought into the spotlight, we may never actually be aware of what can actually become so obvious once a light is shone on it. What I’m referring to is when the author prompts listeners to consider the following: Were my parents consistent? (Where they physically available or distant?). Where they emotionally available (supportive or neglectful), safe or fearful to be around? I love how the author, after asking these questions, prompts listeners to now consider their attachment styles and see where they fit best here (in terms of secure, anxious, avoidant attachment, etc). Genius!
