Resumen del Editor

Is the law of blood vengeance the only justice for the Apache?

The end had been so close. A handful of days and his people would be released from their prison at Fort Sill. Life was good.

Then suddenly there was no longer a future for him.

Every perception he had cherished concerning life and the future was no longer valid.

Innocence had died, and with it, bitter truth had been exposed.

For the White Eyes justice was a word without meaning. Under American law an Indian isn’t worth as much as a white man.

The old ways were better because the Apache understood justice.

When a man shed blood, only blood could balance the scales.

It was time for Matthew to exact blood vengeance - to seek Apache justice.

Without the warrior training of his ancestors, would he be strong enough the survive.

Reading or listening to a James R. Olson is book informative and a pleasure.

I have now listened to or read (both on many of his titles) a wide variety of his works, and not only are his books informative but they are also a pleasure to read. Injun, deals with a less than pleasant part of our history, but although he doesn’t hesitate to tell it like it was, he brings his characters to life and good or bad, they are believable.

I of course, had heard some of the Apache history, but I was completely unaware of this particular episode. The Apache had recognized that they would never run the white man out of their lands and were simply trying to find a way to live, when they became war prisoners of the military from 1886-1914. Not because they were a threat, just because they existed.

This story is very sad, but Mr. Olson ends with details of how successful those who choose to remain in Oklahoma have been.

Mr. Olson has recently started narrating his books and I personally believe that this adds to the experience.

Highly recommend in either version.
