Men and women who lost their innocence in battle and their youths to a decade of deployments, throughout which they never gave up hope. In exchange for down range scars, they gained an unbreakable sense of purpose to America's ideals of freedom, equality, and democracy.

Excellent True Stories on War

This was an excellent book about the Navy Academy and the stories of war. There was so much that I did not know about the wars my generation has gone through, but know I have a much better understanding.

Phenomenal read, I absolutely loved hearing the stories contained in this book. Listening reminded of my time in the military. I only wish I had bought this book sooner.

No idea how to correctly enunciate military jargon

If it weren't for the terrible narration, this book would be very good! Unfortunately, someone yet again decided to have multiple narrators read a book whom have ZERO knowledge of the military or how to pronounce military vernacular! It's frustrating and cringeworthy listening to words like "corpsman" "coxswain" & numerous others be butchered. Why isn't someone catching this? As a retired veteran I was terribly disappointed, it does the authors stories no justice and to those whom have made the ultimate sacrifice, no respect. I beg you to fix this problem, properly edit and do better to honor those who are still serving & those no longer with us.

Thoroughly enjoyed the shared stories of vulnerability, pride, and resilience by each and every story. Motivating and compelling from front to end.
