The stories in Paper Heart investigate contemporary romance from a wide range of angles, each centering around the timeless topics of love and heartbreak. Stories like "Sunday Morning at Jonseys' Diner" explore both familial and romantic love while stories like "Summer Fling" and "The Idea of the Mask" examine desire in the face of an inevitable end. Though the stories differ aesthetically, what is constant throughout the collection is a love that is fragile and characters who navigate life as thwarted dreamers and hopeless romantics, sufferers of their own paper hearts.

Another sweet freebie.

Is this woman one of the previous storyteller's past loves? Or is this a woman explaining her perspective on falling in and out of love? Either way this story is very well written/narrated but I miss not being connected to the storytellers; we never learn their name or the names of their past loves. There are thirteen stories by this author that all seem to belong together but for some reason they are all separate. Right now (as of 6/15/2023) they are all free. I just wish I knew the order they are supposed to be read in but I like the story even if it is short and separate.
