Well narrated

The story itself was fairly basic, vague details, non-absorbing. There was nothing about the "protagonist" worth rooting for as the only details about him were ones of selfish decisions. Disappointed.

Great read

I loved this book. It's a good read for gay fiction. The author gives enough detail to keep the reader engaged and excited to finish.

Interesting and lots of potential

At first, I wasn't too sure about this book, but it started to grow on me as I read more of it. I thought perhaps it was an autobiography. It felt as if it was.. the writing was good not great, but with some more practice, this author can be in that league. It's an enjoyable read and I'll think about off for a while, I would recommend it.

The highs and lows of a gay man struggling to mature

For more than 3/4 of this book, I felt this was a trashy summer reading and I kept going just to read how it would end. was this the story of a gay man born in race in the Midwest coming to NYC to change his light and falling into a life of irresponsibility and debauchery? that was entertaining, but I was surprised with the resolution, perhaps for some a bit of a Hollywood ending, but nevertheless, it touched me

Engaging, smart and witty storytelling!

Charming sarcasm and a wicked sense of humor had me laughing out loud! The character of Gordon is lovable and the story of his journey is colorful , heartwarming and thoughtful.

Great Story Supported by Superb Narration

Funny and fast moving story about the New York art world, terrific narration and character voices by Henning. Strong recommend.

Teased With Potential

I admire the author’s creativity for making the protagonist in this story a loser. Unfortunately, this loser, Gordon, isn’t very likable, and even though the story teased with potential, it often felt repetitive and dull. To be fair, Part Four is beautiful and it’s worth wading through the chapters preceding it.

The narrator’s interpretation of the text was distracting and didn’t add anything to the story.

I think this story would be better read than listened to, so I can’t recommend this audiobook.
