In the Shadow of the Moon. It was something Indah Querisma used to say to her daughter, Lysette. It was a harmless thing, a childish reference to the moon peeking over the dark slopes of Mount Eldritch, the once bustling ski hill in the shadow of which Indah’s house sits.
But the once innocent phrase has long since devolved into a dark reminder of the night Indah’s husband vanished without a trace from the slopes of that very same mountain.
Decades have passed and Lysette has moved on; she is now South Port, Cape Cod’s expert on all things wiccan. Indah, however has remained waiting in the shadow of the mountain, waiting for her beloved to return.
One dark night Indah’s waiting comes to an end. Or so it seems. Now Indah finds herself at a crossroads where she must choose between her daughter and a terrible encroaching darkness.
That same night Lysette’s lover, Detective Eve Teschal emerges from a shootout in the sprawling mill city of Gevaudan. Feeling responsible for the near-death of a young police officer and doubting her own judgement, Eve Teschal finds herself at her own crossroads.
Determined to support her mother, Lysette and Eve together with their sleuthing friends Gwen Quinn and Callista Macvay embark on a journey northward to Indah’s house in Kangamangus, New Hampshire. But upon their arrival it becomes immediately evident that things are far worse than Lysette and her companions could have ever imagined.
Indah’s quaint little town is slipping into darkness. A creeping evil is spreading like a virus across the region bringing death and madness to all who may venture into what Indah Querisma would call the shadow of the moon.
