Reseñas editoriales

A happy, intelligent, artistic African-American girl from upstate New York heads to the Big Apple to make it to the big time in the late 1970s. What could've been easier? In this wonderfully energetic and warmly humorous one-woman show, Charlayne Woodard takes us on a tour of the Lower East Side, doing perfect impressions of her worried mother, her upper-middle-class white boyfriend, a shaman-like Rastafarian, and all the characters she comes to love in the cast of 'Ain't Misbehavin'. The audio's belly-laugh showstopper may be Woodard's innocently sincere rendition of "Auld Lang Syne" as her musical audition piece. Woodard's tremendous talent as a writer and performer are apparent in every second of this live recording.

Resumen del Editor

In the final play of a trilogy that began with Pretty Fire and continued with Neat, In Real Life finds Charlayne Woodard pursuing her dreams in New York City. From early days as a stuggling actor to being nominated for a Tony Award, the harsh realities of Broadway are balanced by the unusual and comforting characters that touched her life.

Nana

In order to relate to Charlayne Woodard you would have to walk in her shoes. People that are blindsided to this way of life will not enjoy this book. It’s an eye opener.

Riveting Performance!

When I listen to Ms. Woodard...I am there in the audience, back stage, in the cab, in the jungle! I reside in Houston, Texas, but I am there in New York with the sounds of talented people auditioning for a part. I know the slogan is Calgon take me away, but Calgon ain't got nothing on this actress and her riveting performance! Bravo!

Excellent Solo Performance! Bravo!

Charlayne Woodard is the G.O.A.T. I've seen 3 of her shows in person. The audio version delivers as well.
