All Nathan Grant wanted was solitude.

After being baptized in the blood rite of combat and spending more than a decade knee deep in gore, two events that cost him his marriage, Nathan Grant wanted to be as far away from civilization as he could be.

Then the world ended.

Faced with the harsh reality of a world now populated with psychotic cannibals, Grant did what he does best – stay at his remote cabin and drink a few beers while watching the world melt down. His way of thinking was let it happen as long as it happened far away from him.

However, fate had different plans.

Dropped into situations he preferred to avoid, the bitter, cynical, old soldier realizes people depend on him for survival. Not eager to take on that kind of responsibility and not willing to get involved, Grant wanted to ignore the world.

But duty and honor pulled him back.

Now, irritated to be involved in something that he wanted no part of yet driven to survive at all costs, he directs his anger towards those that deserve it – the infected.

Good and fun story but virtual voice sucks

Why virtual voice? it's horrible. difficult to tell who's talking to who and lack of inflection loses the sarcasm. never again for me. Book would have been really fun with an actual person narrating.
