Today, Susie brings you the first of a two-part interview with author Jillian Lauren, whose new book Some Girls: My Life in a Harem is taking the media by storm. Who knew that the family of the sultan of Brunei still hosted exotic 40-woman households and lived the lifestyle of princes right out of Arabian Nights? How does a nice girl from New Jersey become a modern-day harem princess? Susie asks Jillian what it was like before and after the harem - first as a stripper and call girl in New York City, and then as a mother and wife. They talk about libidos, sex work, faking orgasms - and what a prince really wants from his hired harem.
Next, Susie worries about recent comments by Apple CEO Steve Jobs. His offer to help the world to be free from porn has some disturbing implications. Sure, the iPhone can do a lot to make life easier - but keep your hands off our sexual interests! Susie takes Jobs to task, pointing out what porn has done for the media industry. She also wonders if Jobs knows that others who have decried porn's unwholesomeness have sometimes turned out to be porn's biggest consumers.
Finally, in our "Try This at Home" mailbag, Susie responds to an issue that many listeners have written and asked about: herpes prevention. A doctor wrote a series of columns in the New York Times giving some surprising tips on herpes prevention - tips that go against Susie's advice. Whom should we believe?
