Another great Deon Meyer novel

Where does Ikarus rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Deon Meyer never disappoints. As I was too impatient to wait for the English translation I listened to Ikarus in Afrikaans. The narrator is excellent and makes the listeners feel like they are part of the story. Every Deon Meyer story I have listened to or read has always ranked as one of my favorites, Ikarus lived up to my expectations.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

It kept me thinking who the culprit was and I was pleasantly surprised at the unexpected twist at the end.

What about Nic de Jager’s performance did you like?

He switches effortlessly from English to Afrikaans and back throughout the story and makes me long to be in the Cape. His accent is perfect for the story and I enjoyed listening to him as much as I enjoyed the story

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did, but work, family and pets didn't permit that. For once I didn't mind my lengthy daily commute between my town and work though:)

Any additional comments?

I am almost sad that I didn't wait for the English version as the wait for the next Deon Meyer novel will be long, had I waited for the English translation I would still have the novel to look forward to.

Excellent narrator. He makes you live the story. And typical Meyer, keeps you guessing until the end

Goeie storie met interresante draaie. Die voorlesing is puik. Ek sal weer 'n Deon Meyer boek koop.

Nic de Jager reads Deon Meyer precisely right

I recently listened to the English version of one of Deon Meyer's books on Audible. Although the reader/performer was good he did not capture the essence of the milieu and the characters like Nic does brilliantly. i would love to hear Nic reading Deon Meyer in English!

Meyer's best work to date

Excellent story line, honest and well presented characters. Thoroughly researched. A well discussed mystery right until the end. Long live Kaptein Bennie Griesel & Co, looking forward to their next docket!

Loved this book. Enjoyed it thoroughly- and as usual, Mr. Deon Meyer did not disappoint.

Nog 'n treffer van Deon Meyer

Ikarus is die nuutste Deon Meyer boek. As jy nog nie sy ander boeke gelees of geluister het nie, dan moet jy dalk eerder met hulle begin, al staan Ikarus ook redelik goed op sy eie. Dis tipies Meyer --- 'n speurverhaal vol aksie, met interessante karakters.

Nic de Jager doen 'n uitstekende job met die lees. Die stemme was almal onderskeibaar. Hy lees baie duidelik, ook; ek kon hom maklik verstaan bo die geraas van my kar. Ek het dit op my Android geluister, en daar was 'n klein probleem met die pouse tussen hoofstukke --- of eintlik die gebrek van pouse. As die een hoofstuk einde, het die leser maar net aangegaan asof dit nog die selfde mense kan wees, en dit het my baie verwar totdat ek die karakters leer ken het.
