A year has passed since the events that introduced the O’Malley family to a complex, sinister plot involving the Choice system. Now, unexplained disappearances of politically conservative families shake Chicagoland. Evidence left at each scene points to the possibility of extraterrestrial abduction. Lieutenant Kerry O'Malley leads Chicago's Crime Scene Investigation team in poring over the evidence and sticking to the facts amidst alien abduction media hype.

When the kidnappings are finally pinned on an ultra-wealthy man with a personal vendetta against Connor O’Malley, the team launches a manhunt. The kidnappings continue, now involving children similar to Connor and Kerry’s son Aedan. While searching for the elusive perpetrator, Kerry and Connor find their family in the crosshairs of their enemies yet again. Kerry’s team races to uncover the true purpose of the high-tech kidnappings, and begin to unravel a complicated conspiracy.
