Resumen del Editor

Sharyn McCrumb's Edgar Award-winning novels featuring Elizabeth MacPherson have captured countless fans who eagerly share this young detective's longings for tantalizing cases and all things Scottish. In the latest New York Times best-selling addition to the series, MacPherson yearns for one particular Scot, her missing husband Cameron, while she tries to solve two baffling instances of murder.

If I'd Killed Him When I Met Him draws together the stories of two women, unrelated except for a common crime: both are charged with killing their husbands. As their tales of abandonment and abuse unfold, the forensic anthropologist must sift through decades of information while juggling evidence, hearsay, and history.

Before she realizes it, MacPherson is involved in a battle of the sexes that hits very close to home. Right up until the final verdict, this moving adventure will keep you guessing the outcome and cheering for the spirited investigator.

fascinating!

Love this book....many twists and turns...Love the ending! One of my favorites. It''s as good as an audio book as it was to read. Will listen to many more times.

It was okay

The beginning caught me…then it was a struggle to listen to. Could be just my attention span.

Typical McCrumb story♡

There are so many pieces and people to assimilate with this story. Thankfully, with much historical data and juggling, all the twisty, turning pieces do come together in order to nicely wrap into a sensible ending. Entertaining!

All-Time Favorite Story

Would you listen to If I'd Killed Him When I Met Him again? Why?

I probably will listen to it again because I love the narrator. The book became a favorite of mine since it was published. McCrumb's characters are so true to life, and she's dealing with women's issues that are usually not mentioned in 'polite' society.

What was one of the most memorable moments of If I'd Killed Him When I Met Him?

When Elizabeth reveals the fate of the original Todhunter that started all the repercussions. Well researched and absolutely true to the time she's considering.

Which character – as performed by Barbara Rosenblat – was your favorite?

Elizabeth McPherson is such a sympathetic character in all her grief and trials. She grows in understanding in the book.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The first time I read it, I laughed so hard I cried. Some of the circumstances struck a note in my own past.

Any additional comments?

I'm so glad Audible keeps my purchases in a Cloud Library. I can listen to them again and again. By the way, my paperback copies were worn out and drenched with bath water, soda, and coffee.

Nobody to like here . . . move along . . .

I wanted to like this book, and kept listening and hoping that something would click. I wish now that I'd returned it after the first tedious chapter about the long-ago simpering Lucy Todhunter.

This book reminded me of those logic quizzzes that ask: What do these things have in common? (Answer: Nothing discernible.) It felt so disjointed - a troop of inane legal cases. We bounced from the post-Civil War Lucy to woman in love with a dolphin to irrepressibly snarky wronged wife to mousy wife of narcissistic preacher. All these oddballs and more were stirred together with Elizabeth, with her absent-and-never-explained husband, Cameron. I couldn't identify or cheer for any of these strange characters, including the attorney who chose the moniker A.P,, a designation that jarred and distracted every time she was referred to.

Maybe you'll love it. It wasn't my cup of tea. Even Barbara Rosenblat couldn't rescue this one for me.
