While the first report of successful in vitro fertilization happened in the 19th century, widespread use of the practice was not common until the 1920s. Not for the faint heart!
Until the first third of the audio book or so, the IVF procedure seemed cool and miraculous. However, the later part of the audio book gave me the visualization of a sort of a scary movie. IVF seems like a challenging and complicated/elaborate procedure and certainly not meant for a faint heart with so many probable complications. People who went through it now seem to me as quite brave indeed.
