Resumen del Editor

It's Christmas in Los Angeles, 1927, and a bank officer named Perry Parker receives a bizarre ransom note, telling him that one of his twin daughters, Marion, has been kidnapped and that she'll be returned if he follows a series of explicit instructions. Little does Parker know, but his daughter is already dead - strangled and horribly dismembered by a madman who calls himself the "Fox."

Although he claims to be a "master criminal," the kidnapper is actually a disturbed young man named William Edward Hickman, whose plans for a "big crime" spin terrifyingly out of control and end in tragedy, horror, and a lingering haunting.

In this chilling installment of the Dead Men Do Tell Tales series, Troy Taylor reveals the eerie true story of one of the most horrific kidnapping and murder cases in American history, from the moment Marion Parker disappeared to the day that her killer swung from the gallows - and delves into the ghostly tale that has lingered long after her death. There are few murder tales in Los Angeles history as gruesome as the story of Marion Parker and it's one of the strangest stories to ever be featured in the series. It's also one that will stay with you long after the final chapter!

Evil Intentions

Author Troy Taylor recounts in meticulous detail the story of the kidnapping of little Marion Parker. Wish I'd remembered the advice of one reviewer who cautioned against listening to the foreword and the first chapter of the story. If you prefer to have the narrative unfold naturally, follow that advice.

The story seems to drone on forever, an experience intensified by the quality of the narrator's low, slow speaking voice. Worse, narrator Huddleston frequently fails to anticipate such phrases as "she said", including the words only when he suddenly notices them. Similarly, he frequently botches sentence parts that continue on the next line, resulting in a jagged, confusing narration.

I normally enjoy listening to courtroom sequences when they are included in stories, but this batch of arguments calls out loudly for some serious editing. The inclusion of traditional Christmas carols played in a minor key is an interesting feature.

Great Story

Thank you Charles for another great narration. The music set the tone for the Christmas season and really brought the story to life. I hope you and Troy further collaborate in the future.

Another great book and performance!

Thank you Troy Taylor for bringing another piece of history back into the light. Such a sad story, including all the children in this book. So well researched and written, I could feel the pain of the parents who lost their children in such a horrible manner. He continues to keep readers and listeners mesmerized.
Even beyond the book, Mr. Huddleston really brings it all to life. His voice and emotional presentation are perfect for Troy’s books. He gets better with every performance I listen to. I am anxious for the next Taylor/Huddleston book.
Thanks to you both!

A Great story, ruined!

I am pissed! I love TC, specifically about serial killers and kidnapping. So when I come across a story I've never heard of before, it is a real treat. I was so excited to settle in to a NEW long story (7hrs) but to my dismay, it was ruined! The author ruined it by giving away the climax within the first five minutes! When a book is a "who done it" you don't start the book by revealing the identity of the villain. When a book is about a kidnapping, you don't reveal the outcome of the kidnapped at the start. When the climax is given away at the outset there's nowhere to go from there but down. I am mad because it was a great story, I just wished it hadn't been ruined for me. Otherwise, the creepy music set a haunting atmosphere and the narrator was spot on. My advice to anyone who purchases this book - SKIP THE FIRST CHAPTER! And DON'T LISTEN TO THE SAMPLE!
