In 1897, an aspiring politician is mysteriously murdered in the rural area of Alabama known as Mitcham Beat. His outraged friends - mostly poor cotton farmers - form a secret society, Hell-at-the-Breech, to punish the townspeople they believe responsible. The hooded members wage a bloody year-long campaign of terror that culminates in a massacre where the innocent suffer alongside the guilty.

Every story is fantastic
I don’t believe I have ever read a collection of stories where each story is near perfect such as this collection, certainly not a collection written by a solo author. Likewise, the narrator’s couldn’t have been better themselves. Especially Tom Stechschulte. He’s always has been a favorite of mine but this might be his best performance yet.

Great set of stories
Great set of stories. All I found strong. Southern gothic, dark. Good narrators. Really enjoyed.
