Acerca de esta escucha

This work – the author’s fourth book – tells the shocking but true story of the American surrender of the nation of Afghanistan to the Taliban terrorists in August 2021. Reasonable minds can differ on whether the decision by President Donald Trump – and ultimately by his successor, President Joe Biden – to exit from Afghanistan completely is prudent. But in the author’s estimation, few can doubt that the manner in which Biden and his administration plan, oversee and execute the withdrawal is nothing short of catastrophic. It likely will harm America’s standing in the world for decades.

As conservative columnist and radio host Guy Benson explains, “. . . Americans aren’t recoiling in horror at the nightmarish humiliation in Afghanistan due to the policy of withdrawal. They’re doing so because of the breathtakingly incompetent and disgraceful manner in which the policy is being carried out . . .”[1]

Thirteen American service members are killed by a terrorist suicide bomber during the withdrawal. Some 45 others are wounded. Approximately 170 Afghans are murdered by that bomber, and many more are wounded. At least a thousand American citizens who want to leave are left behind in Afghanistan when the withdrawal ends. And the U.S. military erroneously kills ten innocent Afghan civilians – including seven children – in a botched attack intended as retaliation for the suicide bombing.

At least $7 billion in serviceable military equipment is left behind for the use of the Taliban conquerors. And the U.S. military completely abandons Bagram Air Base, one of the most strategically located U.S. bases in all of the Middle East and Asia. And as a result of the withdrawal, the U.S. loses virtually all of its intelligence-gathering capability in Afghanistan.

The vast majority – possibly as many as 90 percent – of Afghans who helped the United States and its allies during the 20-year war are left behind. Many are killed, tortured or imprisoned by the Taliban. The rights of Afghan women and girls are decimated by the Taliban government. And America’s credibility with its allies around the world is damaged severely.
Without doubt, Joe Biden emphatically proved the words of General David Perkins (Ret.): “. . . [B]elieve me, it’s a lot easier to invade a country than to leave it in an orderly manner.”[2]
