His mission is to ensure the U.S. leapfrogs China in the race for technical supremacy.
Elsewhere, there’s a ragtag group of misfits—each forever changed by an orb encounter. They abandon their broken lives to embark on a quest that leads them across the country. From a tent revival healing service to a meth-ravaged town clinging to the hope of a reopened coal mine, their pilgrimage leads them toward the Spook and a reckoning none of them can predict.
