Hunter's Secret War

Freelance reporter A.B. Hunter, the protagonist of Into the Pacific Fog, is back on the street in 1943 scrounging for 2-cents a word stories in San Francisco after a stint working for naval intelligence when he is called back to service. This time he is tasked by Senator Harry Truman with exposing companies that cheat the government during World War II. He arrives in Washington with holes in the soles of his shoes, but after an amazing run of luck he finds both love and money while disrupting a Nazi plot on the East Coast and then helps the FBI uncover a Soviet spying operation designed to steal America’s nuclear bomb secrets.
