Meet Julia Bancroft. Fabulous, talented, beautiful…deluded and friendless. You won’t like her at first but maybe her ‘nice’ lessons might change your mind?

Being nice doesn't come naturally to (self-proclaimed) renowned Regency romance author, Julia. But when her husband walks out on her and she realises she has no friends, she faces a future of dying alone with the pesky cats eating her face. Thankfully, she doesn't have any cats but drastic times call for drastic measures.

With the help of her oh, so lovely, but annoying new neighbour, Julia dabbles in her least favourite things - small talk, budgeting and dating. But this being nice malarkey is much harder than expected, especially when she faces obstacles such as an unsympathetic mother, a tight work deadline and suspicions about her neighbour's boyfriend.

Luckily, she finds a new confidant - her neighbour's twin brother - and she can be herself in front of him because it's only Harry, who's perfectly tolerable...just about.

And there's nothing Julia likes more than throwing herself into her romances but when her current work in progress mirrors a part of her life, will she realise what she has before she loses everyone willing to help her?
