Acerca de esta escucha
Want a quick and dirty guide on how to set yourself above the thousands of other students worldwide that are competing with you for scholarship money? Josh Barsch has been a scholarship judge since 2003, and he's identified 10 big essay-writing errors that students make every year that rob them of a chance at big-time college money. For the price of a McDonald's value meal, you can get a giant leg up on the fierce worldwide competition for scholarship money.
Warning: "Judge Josh" is direct and pulls no punches, and in some cases even uses a little bit of adult language. This book is seasoned with biting humor, and you may find yourself laughing as much as you're learning. If you're a prim-and-proper, buttoned-down type with no sense of humor, do NOT buy this book!

Every parent wants the best for their child. That’s why they send them to college! But most parents struggle to pay for school and end up turning to student loans. That’s why the majority of graduates walk away with $35,000 in student loan debt and no clue what that debt will really cost them. Student loan debt doesn’t open doors for young adults - it closes them. They postpone getting married and starting a family. That debt even takes away their freedom to pursue their dreams. But there is a different way. Going to college without student loans is possible!

Kristina would need to find her own way to pay for college. As an average student with less-than-impressive test scores, Kristina realized she would have to sell herself to scholarship committees if she wanted to stand out. That's when she devised the plan that led to her receiving over $500,000 in scholarships.

We may not realize it, but children are hyperaware of money. They have scores of questions about its nuances that parents often don't answer, or know how to answer well. But for Ron Lieber, a personal finance columnist and father, good parenting means talking about money with our kids much more often. When parents avoid these conversations, they lose a tremendous opportunity—not just to model important financial behaviors, but also to imprint lessons about what their family cares about most.
