Backgammon might not be as popular today as the gimmicky card games or easier board games on the market, but it is certainly worth spending the time learning to play. You’d be surprised how easy it is to learn, and how addictive it can be.
Backgammon is one of our oldest games and has entertained humans for centuries. The Catholic Church waged war on the game, paintings have been dedicated to it, Roman emperors adored backgammon, and cultures across North America, Asia, Africa, and Europe have their own variations of this classic game. Laws have been enacted on its behalf, so it might be worth your time to learn about.
Backgammon is an easy game, played with a visually-appealing board, 30 checkers, and five dice. It’s relatively simple for beginners to pick up and play, yet complex enough to have tournaments, clubs, and literature. Backgammon is a strategist’s dream and a racer’s favorite board game. Gamblers will love the risk of this game, and even a person who likes to play it safe could have fun moving the checkers around the board.
