Acerca de esta escucha
How to Build a Better Life implodes the decades-long narrative that women should prioritize career above all else and provides a new path forward for women who would rather focus on family and build the balanced lives they crave.
So you’re tired of being single and would rather be married with children. Or perhaps you’re already a wife and mother, but you want to stop working and stay home with your kids—if only for a season.
Either way, you have no support for your desire to do so.
If you’re single, you’ve been told to put career front and center and that marriage and motherhood can wait. If you’re married, your family and friends—even your own husband!—want you to work full-time, despite the fact that you have young children at home.
It feels like everyone wants you to be a workhorse, but you just want to slow down. You want to live a simpler life that’s centered on family, not career. You want to raise your own babies, not put them in daycare. You want to live in your home, not use it as a place to just sleep and shower.
In How to Build a Better Life, relationship and life coach Suzanne Venker charts a new course for women who want to prioritize love and family and to build strong relationships at home.
In this book, you will learn:
- Why your femininity is a superpower
- How to date for marriage
- That you don’t need to be rich to have a baby
- How to live on one income
- Why “lazy girl jobs” can be a great choice for moms
- What no one told you about daycare
A call to arms, How to Build a Better Life will ignite a much-needed debate about the misplaced priorities of the modern generation. This guide is the antidote women need to reject the lies they've been fed by our culture so they can build the happier and slower-paced lives they crave.

In the midst of a historic "birth dearth," why do some 5 percent of American women choose to defy the demographic norm by bearing five or more children? Hannah’s Children is a compelling portrait of these overlooked but fascinating mothers who, like the biblical Hannah, see their children as their purpose, their contribution, and their greatest blessing. The social scientist Catherine Pakaluk, herself the mother of eight, traveled across the United States and interviewed fifty-five college-educated women who were raising five or more children.

In virtually every way that can be measured, Gen Z’s mental health is worse than that of previous generations. Youth suicide rates are climbing, antidepressant prescriptions for children are common, and the proliferation of mental health diagnoses has not helped the staggering number of kids who are lonely, lost, sad and fearful of growing up. What’s gone wrong with America’s youth? In Bad Therapy, bestselling investigative journalist Abigail Shrier argues that the problem isn’t the kids—it’s the mental health experts.

Every parent and teacher wants to give his or her children the best education possible. They hope that the teaching they provide is a joyful adventure, a celebration of life, and preparation for living. But sadly, most education today falls short of this goal. For the Children's Sake imagines what education can be based on a Christian understanding of the meaning of life and what it means to be human—a child, a parent, a teacher.

We pray for peace when our little ones are tossed about by waves of emotions, for connection and confidence when navigating stressful mornings and exhausting nights, and for wisdom in knowing how best to discipline our kids. As Christian parents, we’re desperate to “get it right,” to raise our children to be strong, courageous followers of Jesus―and yet, despite the overload of endless advice at our fingertips, we often feel completely and utterly lost.

This is a small collection of thoughts on mothering young children for when you are motivated, for when you are discouraged, for the times when discipline seems fruitless, and for when you are just plain tired. The opportunities for growth abound here but you have to be willing. You have to open your heart to the tumble. As you deal with your children, deal with yourself always and first. This is what it looks like, and feels like, to walk as a mother with God.

You want your man to be strong, competent, and devoted to giving you what you need to feel happy, secure, and loved. Yet if you are like most women, you are doing things that ensure your man never steps up in the way you want. You may be enabling and even encouraging him to remain passive, self-interested, irresponsible, and undevoted. Many of your innocent, and even loving behaviors and words are pushing your man away and preventing him from being the man you need him to be. This book will put an end to that forever.

Women Need To Hear This
This book is short and to the point, but the message is excellent! Women in our country are getting sick of the feminist lie that, “we can have it all”. We are suffering and our families are suffering greatly. Suzanne, explains that we don’t have to be miserable, but that it takes planning and change. Her roadmap on how to make these changes is so helpful and one that you won’t hear many other places. I highly recommend this book to women of all ages.

Absolutely enthralling to visualize the possibilities
This book is empowering for women that want to be women with options and a bright future filled with true fulfillment and happiness. I feel more equipped to boldly aim to acquire the life I want after listening to this book, which means working along the grain of my instincts and desires for marriage and children rather than trying to brainwash myself to believe I have to live a big “Girl Boss” life in order to be worth anything. I want an authentic life, and this book has certainly helped this 20-something year old woman confidently strive for that. I recommended Suzanne Venker to a friend in her late 30s and she felt the same way! Highly, highly recommend.

Thank You Suzanne!
Loved this listen as a new mom wanting to be home with my baby! Was so encouraging of the way I intuitively want to be. So funny how I still notice part of me trying to talk myself out of the perfectly healthy mothering instinct. Mid-listen, I sent this book to my younger sister as a graduation present as she gets her masters this spring. She has always wanted babies and family and I look forward to chatting about this book with her.

Clear, simple, encouraging
Simple and easy to listen to. Great advice from an older woman to a younger woman. Every young woman should listen to this book, any mother with a daughter under 30 should also listen to this book. It’s best to be teaching our daughters when they are very young so that there’s less course correcting. The culture is sadly waging war on motherhood. It’s definitely worth the effort. The old saying, “ the hand that rocks, the cradle rules, the world” is just true now as it was back then. Mothers should be the ones with their babies.
