Great Introduction to the Series!

This was my first Reggi Dupree's story. This is a great prequel to the Boudin, Bourbon, and Barbecue Series. The story is fast-paced, original, and intriguing. I liked the humor, and the twists and turns in the story. Ruthie Bowles did a great job bringing this story to life. Looking forward to listening to Return to Hoodoo, the first book in the series. #StoryOrigin

Hoodoo Heaven is an absolutely AMAZING book. As a Black woman in my 30's, it spoke to me in ways I didn't expect. If I had simply read the book I may have liked it..But listening to it?! Ruthie gives you an EXPERIENCE! The way she fully embodied the main character Gwen is truly a work of art. I simply would not have enjoyed this unforgettable story as much without such an amazing narrator. I cannot wait for her to narrate the future books!! Also I absolutely need books 2-10 NOW 😂.

Keeps your attention!

Really enjoyed hearing this kind of story through the voice of a black woman. It’s a fun listen and I’m excited not hear more of her books!

Ok, I need the next book immediately. This prequel novella did its job, and now I need the rest of the story. ASAP. The narration was delightful, really brought the characters to life and immersed me in the story.

Enjoyable

I really enjoyed this introduction to a new series. I liked that the characters were real, and that the reader got a little backstory of the FMC with each person that was introduced. I hope to read more and learn more in the next books. I’d think the narrator did a good job of giving each character a voice.

Long-winded

The narrator was a good reader, I loved her voice and she read through the book like we were really there with her, it just for the book it took a while to get to the point but other than that it was a good book

LOVING IT.

The main female character has the BEST internal dialogue ever. This is a good story and definitely has you wanting more. Oh by the way it is a cliffhanger! A mother of cliffhangers. I love how rich the narrator’s voice is.

Can’t wait for more

I read a ridiculous amount, some might argue that I devour rather than read. It’s not uncommon for me to finish four books in a weekend. I generally don’t listen to audio books as the speed is usually too slow and the narration dull. That is not at all the case here! I savored every word.
I feel so in love with the characters that I actually read along. The characters were unique and original. I feel like someone that I would hang out with on the regular. She can have her bourbon. I’ll have my Jameson. As a 44 yo tatted up vivid colored former expat I felt like this was written specifically for me.
Bottom line: The one-liners were hysterical, the characters original, diverse, and interesting. The story intriguing and I need more.

This book was full of mystery and suspense with a cliffhanger. I like the narration and found it pleasant to listen to as I did my daily walk.
