Hoodoo Heaven is an absolutely AMAZING book. As a Black woman in my 30's, it spoke to me in ways I didn't expect. If I had simply read the book I may have liked it..But listening to it?! Ruthie gives you an EXPERIENCE! The way she fully embodied the main character Gwen is truly a work of art. I simply would not have enjoyed this unforgettable story as much without such an amazing narrator. I cannot wait for her to narrate the future books!! Also I absolutely need books 2-10 NOW 😂.

Great Introduction to the Series!

This was my first Reggi Dupree's story. This is a great prequel to the Boudin, Bourbon, and Barbecue Series. The story is fast-paced, original, and intriguing. I liked the humor, and the twists and turns in the story. Ruthie Bowles did a great job bringing this story to life. Looking forward to listening to Return to Hoodoo, the first book in the series. #StoryOrigin

Long-winded

The narrator was a good reader, I loved her voice and she read through the book like we were really there with her, it just for the book it took a while to get to the point but other than that it was a good book

Cranky, clever, and crass. I love her.

Ok, I need the next book immediately. This prequel novella did its job, and now I need the rest of the story. ASAP. The narration was delightful, really brought the characters to life and immersed me in the story.

Enjoyable

I really enjoyed this introduction to a new series. I liked that the characters were real, and that the reader got a little backstory of the FMC with each person that was introduced. I hope to read more and learn more in the next books. I’d think the narrator did a good job of giving each character a voice.

Awesome start

I actually think this was a really good way to start a new series. Fmc is sassy and has a lot of wit. Themes of magic and voodoo. Audio was fab I havnt heard this narrator before and I found her voice very enjoyable. Looking forward to the up coming series in Audio. 3.5 stars

Short but hooked

This book had me laughing and wondering what was going to happen next. The end stopped where you are just waiting for the next book. The author did good on the last bit of the book. I am so curious of who Ash is and if he isn't human how come she didn't know. It is a short story but one that is worth every minute.
I received this book for free in exchange for my honest opinion.

Surprisingly Good.

I didn't think I would like it but I really did. I can't wait for the second book to be available.

I Enjoyed It - My first book by this author

This is my first book by this author but I was intrigued by the "blurb" so decided to listen to this one, As audiobooks go it's a relatively quick listen at only three hours but no less enjoyable for that.

The "blurb" tells you what to expect but it doesn't begin to tell you just how well-drawn the characters are I liked their originality and uniqueness, they really felt like someone I would like to meet. I loved the combination of magic and mayhem as well as the sarcasm, and humour and the one-liners were hysterical. I savoured every word. of this different and enjoyable tale.

The narration by Ruthie Bowles, a new narrator for me, was very well done, she's definitely someone I would listen to again.

I was given this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.
