Fun and flirty

This was such a fun holiday novella and I loved that we got a little glimpse of the Kingmans before they were older and meeting their parents. “Honkers Under the Holly” is a fun, flirty and swoony sports holiday novella with a fun and quirky goose.

I loved how this was set in the Kingman’s world but adjacent to it. We get to meet Mama and Papa Kingman and some of the boys when they were younger which was so fun. But Mac and Sara Jayne. Mac was a former football player turned agent who had one client but was trying desperately to build his business. Thanks to Oktoberfest, a beautiful woman and a silly goose… Mac meets Sara Jayne. I loved the instant connection between them and how they would do just about anything to help Sir Honks-A-Lot. That goose had me cracking up so much with his quirkiness and how he would steal the spotlight no matter where he was at. Tommy is such a fun guy and I loved him with Sir Honks-A-Lot and everything he brought to the story. This novella was great and a fun addition to the series.

Allie Shae and Kyle Mason narrated as Sara Jayne and Mac and they were so much fun to listen to. I loved their fun and genuine narrations bringing all these characters to life.

Underwhelming

The Cocky Kingmans is my all-time favorite series. Unfortunately, this addition was a bit lackluster.

This was such a fun, cute, and definitely unique holiday story. I would honestly love to tell you what happens in the story, but I don't think you would believe me if I did. Just know that this is a hilarious story, with a double dose of fake engagement, a side of secret relationship, a unique quasi coming out story, and a whole lot of socks-stealing mischief from the goose who stole the show, Sir Honksalot.

I honestly had a blast with this audiobook. And that ending was completely unexpected, but I loved it. Both narrators are ntm, and both did a great job with the story. So if you're looking for a quick fun holiday listen, this is the one.

No emotions or build up.

I love her books, but this one was not her best work. I know it was short, but it was like hi nice to meet you, we are in love.

The male narrators voice was not what I wanted to hear for this type of book, there was no emotion, and it made the book boring.

Funny 🤣

Funny, sexy great dialogue. Just like all the Kingman stories. When you need something funny and light hearted.

Geese, Spice, and Everything Nice

I’ve had a string of misses lately—books that just haven’t quite landed for me. So I decided to go back to a series I trust: Cocky Kingsmans. I’ve loved every installment so far, and this holiday novella absolutely kept the streak alive.

Originally released last December, I didn’t get a chance to read Honkers Under the Holly during the holidays—but I devoured it today in one cozy sitting. And y’all, Amy Award never misses when it comes to dedications. Somehow, they always feel like exactly what I need to hear, exactly when I need to hear it. Her epilogues also never disappoint, and this one? A final chapter that includes Sir Honks-A-Lot’s own mini love story? Chef’s kiss.

Going in, I thought this might be a flashback to how the Kingsman parents met. While we do get a peek at younger versions of their mom and dad, the real spotlight is on Sarah Jane (a plus-size model and friend of their mom) and Mac (the Kingsman boys’ future agent). Their chemistry is instant, their banter is gold, and their romance is stuffed with everything I love about this series: playful chaos, hidden feelings, and an unexpected goose in the middle of a German bar at Oktoberfest. 🪿✨

Horrible story. So disappointed. I’ve followed this author and loved the past novels. This one was just horrible.
