Homecoming
Book One of The Assiduous Quest of Tobias Hopkins
A combination of Part One (La Bruma) and Part Two (The Tempest) in one volume.
Brush aside all we have been told about the past. In this series, 17th-century trader Tobias Hopkins takes you on an exciting journey in the New World, an adventure fraught with personal conflicts and the many challenges presented to those who dare to venture into the Americas.
It is October in the year 1675. New England trader, Tobias Hopkins, arrives in Jamaica to discover the truth about his missing father. It transpires that not only has the man been dead for six years, but he has left Toby with a half-brother and the cryptic clue to an inheritance which promises to change the course of his life. Haunted by nightmares from his past, Toby continues with his quest, unaware that his actions are being followed closely by others who will stop at nothing to get what they want. But who can he trust? His faithful associate John, the astute businesswoman Elizabeth, or Magdalena, the African mother of his half-brother Eduardo? It soon becomes clear that Toby and those closest to him are in imminent danger. The cryptic message written by his father could solve the situation, a message that sets Toby on a course for the Island of Nevis. All optimism is short-lived when the Dunstan is outmanned by the very people who have been tracking Toby’s activities. However, Beatrice, the mulatto girl who has stowed away aboard the Dunstan, has a preternatural way of leading Toby and his crew to safety.
