Snowed in on the shores of Loch Ness with Noel the Brave… I guess Christmas wishes really do come true…

When my boyfriend breaks up with me the week before Christmas, I’m prepared to spend the festive season alone and miserable. To my surprise, though, the science teacher in the classroom next to mine who overhead me getting dumped by phone invites me to accompany him on his Scottish holiday retreat. I accept, relieved to escape my quiet flat, plus spending time with the gorgeous Noel is something I didn’t expect to find in my stocking.

Noel’s wife died on Christmas Eve three years ago, and to bury the memories of that day, he usually spends the holidays getting drunk and watching action movies – which makes him perfect company for a fellow teacher in need of solitude. But as the snow piles up outside, the temperature inside soars, and together we discover the human heart’s amazing capacity to heal… and love.

Short and Sweet

I liked that even though it was only a little over two hours by audio, there was a lot of character development. Some of these short stories are just an excuse for some bedroom fantasy the author wants to play out. I also liked the British AI, I wish Audible did all their Virtual Voice audios with the British accent, it’s a lot easier to listen to. In the end, I felt like I read a true romance.
