Resumen del Editor

This book tells the story of five different homicide cases from Kansas City, Missouri, as told by the prosecutor who handled the cases himself, Phil LeVota. Five different stories are the five chapters that tell the different tale of true crime from the criminal's perspective, the police perspective, and the prosecution perspective. The Jackson County Prosecutor's office and the Kansas City Police department were involved in obtaining justice for the victims. From the horrific crime where the murderer made his son help him cut off the victim's head and hands to the robbery and rape of the sweet neighborhood grandmother, this is a "hard to put down" book that keeps you wanting more.

Amazing Stories

I was on the edge of my seat through each of the 5 cases detailed by former KCMO Prosecutor, Phil LeVota. The origin of the title being the most interesting tie-in ever.
The recording has a couple issues here and there but nothing that is a deal breaker--cut the guy some slack. He's not an actor as is typically the case with audiobook narrators.
I really loved this book and learned a lot from the vantage point of the victims.

"Always should hire a professional...

"To do the narrative, I mean c'mon. This may be a great book, but I'll never know because I could not get past the first paragraph . I felt the background noises, lack of professionalism in delivery, (and that's from him being a "Prosecutor " not a "voice narrator " )and me being spoiled from listening to so many audiobooks with FANTASTIC narration, left me disappointed because I can't listen to 8 minutes let alone 8 hours or however long this book is.

VERY Dark Book; Poor Performance

This is an overall good book, but is very dark and graphic. It will not leave you feeling good. I was interested because I’m from Kansas City. The reading of this book is rough. It doesn’t seem like there was any editing done at all. The author corrects himself as he reads wrong words, like an aside to the audience. Very sloppy.

A very amateurish book and production

Sounds like the author recorded in his basement because he almost certainly did. The book could have used a good editor to help with awkward word usage. Yet, when I had no other book to listen to, I listened to it all. The stories cases were pretty good.
