Marriage is hard. A Christian marriage with a spouse who diverts from their marriage vows is beyond hard. Discovering mental illness in your spouse decades later is shocking and oddly validating, since the dots finally connect. In His Last Breath, author Michele Arnoldy offers an unguarded chronicle of life events that redirected the road she was traveling. She explores the complexities of mental health and trauma on her journey toward healing. Arnoldy shares how her marriage, initially full of hope and promise, pivoted into dismay and betrayal. She tells how she endured substantial loss with the unanticipated ending of her marriage and numerous relationships, financially, and life as she knew it. She writes in raw detail of the painful moments, the priceless lessons learned, and the revelation of her hope-filled future, including:

• understanding the power of forgiveness;

• realizing faith instead of fear;

• celebrating in her darkest hour; and

• overcoming depression and despair.

His Last Breath offers a powerful testament to the human spirit’s capacity for resilience, growth, and transformation during life’s most difficult challenges.

Absolutely loved this book, it’s so raw and she is the very definition of a woman of faith as she shows us in her commitment to God and to her marriage.
Everything she endured and to still come through all of it with her faith in Jesus Christ being even stronger than it was before it all happened is truly remarkable.
Highly recommend this book to anyone looking for healing or spiritual inspiration.

The author was also the narrator, Being the narrator, she obviously knew the emotion, and portrayed that raw emotion as she told her story, and yet she was very composed. She was able to describe the details just as she lived it, not as if she was reading her memoir.
She eluded to "her 2 loves", but didn't tell you right away who they were. Knowing the author, because I heard an interview of the author, I knew where she was going. but even still she left you figure that out on your own.
When writing a book, I'm not sure how a person decides how to organize ones thoughts to be able to get the audience to follow, but this author seemed to have done a very good job at taking you on a journey, without over explaining it, and yet giving you enough detail to allow you to feel the raw emotion of the situation. Being very relatable. and seeing how this story can fit so many people, not only made me think of my own situation(s), but also those of my loved ones.
The book was a nice length, perfect for a short story, and long enough for a road trip. I was able to listen to the entire book on one of my trips. Being able to have the book in "Audible" made it easy enough to go back and listen to parts of it again.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one, or is struggling to find God in a particular situation, It seems like the author has a personal relationship with God, and she makes several references from the Bible regarding how they relate to her story. If we all could find that conviction. Death never gets easier, and is inevitable, especially because at some point, whether that be natural causes, or not, as we age, and if we continue to grow in love, we are going to experience a tragic lose, or our loved ones will experience it once we go. But if we have that personal relationship with our God, maybe that tragedy won't be quite so hard. I'm not sure. Letting go of this world is seems to be hard no matter what. But if one has faith, "The size of a mustard seed" maybe, just maybe, you might survive long enough, well enough, to still find purpose in your life.
Thanks for being vulnerable enough to tell your story.

Authentic, spiritual, raw emotion. Very relatable
