Reseñas editoriales

Hieroglyphs, or "sacred carvings", dot the world in a fantastic array of symbols and meanings. They are the oldest known writings of humankind. This brief audiobook, narrated in a clear Australian accent by Todd MacDonald, gives the listener a nearly six-minute introduction to some of the most fascinating areas of hieroglyphic study: the whens, wheres, whys. Listeners will learn about ideograms and the similarity of these to English lettering, the purposes of most hieroglyphic writing, and the training that scholars believe some hieroglyphic authors went through in order to practice their craft. Listeners will be encouraged to delve further into this fascinating way of studying ancient history.

"I'm learning all sorts of stuff about stuff I didn't even know I didn't know. And it sticks. In a nutshell: wonderful." (Jonathon Margolis, Financial Times)

impressive amount of information squeezed into several minutes listening time. almost too much to take in for a first listen. extremely fascinating and despite the history of hieroglyphs being usually defined as Egyptian writing, we learned so much about this style of writing from all over the world and through history.

not just for ancient Egypt

it was a very easy book to get through at only a little more than 5 minutes. It is straight to the point.

Short but informative

For being “free”. Great little introduction on Hieroglyphics. Also, a very nice brief history “about” hieroglyphs and how they came “to-be”.

Not Bad…

It's good to know about Hieroglyphs including a quick history. Though it's very short audio book, it did cover some interesting facts. May be iMinds can come up with an elaborated version eventually. It would be interesting to listen to.

Interesting

Good info - way way too short. So short, it was almost a waste of time?

It is informative, but some of us are looking for a bit more instruction on the matter. this constitutes a light dusting of the surface. I was too excited when I saw this as my expectations were higher.
