What happens when a spirit fails to go into the light and needs to reach Spiritual Tech Support ? This is what Ruby Gold, bound in space and time, finds out when she meets Travis T. Alaska, an open minded physicist, who may be able to invent the Spiritual Telephone she needs to make the call. Their work results in what they consider a failure, but Dr. Angstrom sees as the ultimate success- a working time machine ! Working with dark governmental forces, Dr. Angstrom uses the machine to further his work on biological warfare, unleashing the Bubonic Plague upon fourteenth-century Europe. When some of Dr. Angstrom's students discover his diabolical plot, they set out to stop him, but Dr. Angstrom will not be interfered with. With the help of time-traveling hit men sent to hunt down and eradicate the meddlesome students, Dr. Angstrom sets his sights on eliminating Travis, the only person with knowledge of the time machine, before he is even born. Poor Ruby Gold gets lost in the pandemonium. Or does she ? More unusual names come to the fore when individuals with unique talents join in the efforts to save the world and all mankind from Dr. Angstrom and the germ warfare he sees fit to unleash on any generation he chooses to use as Guinea Pigs. Spiny Wheezer, aptly named for his birth defect which has given him a hedgehog-type appearance; Nova Brigand, sent from the future to save Travis T. when things seem to be at their bleakest; and behind the scenes, extraterrestrial wise guys with all the answers who step in when necessary to keep everything running smoothly and set things right when they appear to be going off track.
