An old secret, hidden for decades, comes to light, when Diane LeNell agrees to let her doctor use hypnosis. She recalls a memory of her birthmother, a twenty year old woman of Scottish royalty. Lady Mariel Conners dies moments after giving birth to Diane. A Nun at the hospital believes it's a sign from God. She takes the baby into a new room, laying it in the bassinette next to an unconscious woman who delivered a still born baby, that was immediately taken to Mariel's room to make it look like the mother and child died together. The new mother awakens from a cesarean surgery thinking Diane is her baby. While growing up, Diane struggles with complex feelings of abandonment. She feels that something went wrong on the day of her birth, and is determined to find out the mystery of her real parents disappearance.
