Acerca de esta escucha

Oliver Stone and the Camel Club return in number-one best-selling author David Baldacci's most stunning adventure yet.

An attack on the heart of power...
In sight of the White House...
At a place known as...

Hell's Corner.

John Carr, a.k.a. Oliver Stone - once the most skilled assassin his country ever had - stands in Lafayette Park in front of the White House, perhaps for the last time. The president has personally requested that Stone serve his country again on a high-risk, covert mission. Though he's fought for decades to leave his past career behind, Stone has no choice but to say yes.

Then Stone's mission changes drastically before it even begins. It's the night of a state dinner honoring the British prime minister. As he watches the prime minister's motorcade leave the White House that evening, a bomb is detonated in Lafayette Park, an apparent terrorist attack against both leaders. It's in the chaotic aftermath that Stone takes on a new, more urgent assignment: find those responsible for the bombing.

British MI-6 agent Mary Chapman becomes Stone's partner in the search for the unknown attackers. But their opponents are elusive, capable, and increasingly lethal; worst of all, it seems that the park bombing may just have been the opening salvo in their plan. With nowhere else to turn, Stone enlists the help of the only people he knows he can trust: the Camel Club. Yet that may be a big mistake.

In the shadowy worlds of politics and intelligence, there is no one you can really trust. Nothing is really what it seems to be. And Hell's Corner truly lives up to its name. This may be Oliver Stone's and the Camel Club's last stand.

I love the John Carr stories the best. This one gives the same great action and adventure. Baldacci has a great plot and flows right through the whole story. He brings back the past and starts into the future.

Baldacci writes it and I immediately read it.
I have not been disappointed yet and I am a critical reader.

Baldacci does it again

Where does Hell's Corner rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Near the top. I love Baldacci's books

Who was your favorite character and why?

Oliver Stone. Always. Why? Why not?

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I'm not a huge fan of Ron McLarty. Don't think his narration flows as well as others I've listened to, but I listen to him because I like Baldacci's books. I initially hated having a second voice doing the women's lines, but eventually got used to it.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It just held my attention

Any additional comments?

Please, please, PLEASE stop adding sound effects to audio books. It's stupid and distracting.

Omit the sound effects!

Parts were a bit predictable compared to his other books. The twists were in where was it going next vs who was behind it. That, coupled with the length didn't keep me quite as engaged. The little twist at the end was a surprise though and a nice way to wrap.

Another great Oliver Stone story...love that guy! I really like the fact that the story is read by a male and a female voice... Ron McLarty & Orlagh Cassidy add so much to the enjoyment of the listen!

Another great Baldacci!

This was another in the Camel Club series and Baldacci delivered again. I found it quite enjoyable! I would definitely recommend this one.

Excellent Read!

I love John Carr the character, but he dissappointed me a bit in this story. Maybe he is getting a bit long in the tooth to be as much fun to read/listen to. The story was interesting but a bit too convoluted for me. I didn't particularly like the characters except or course for the basic Oliver Stone gang.

My Man Oliver or is it John

I was hooked at the moment a bomb was involved and the very careful detail of how the information and characters meshed so well. Also the joining and butting of heads from multiple agencies was enjoyable!

A fictional story worth listening to!

Loved the plot twists & turns. Narrator was incredible & has prompted me to add more of his readings to my wish list.

Best Oliver Stone, Camel Club

It's hard to understand why so many folks seem to struggle with multiple readers doing voices for the audiobooks. This book was a very enjoyable listen! Story was very compelling, and I always love how Baldacci works in new characters to explore dynamics between 'old' Camel Club Members, Stone, & new folks. Baldacci fans need to relax & allow him to entertain them.

Why bag on multiple readers & new characters

Would you consider the audio edition of Hell's Corner to be better than the print version?

Ordinarily, I read the print version and am somewhat disappointed by the audio. More recently, I'm sticking with audio and loving it.
