Chance Morgan, career firefighter, suspects he'll never take that long overdue honeymoon with his wife, Annie, of seven years.
Thanks to an emergency on date night, he is forced to put his first responder skills into action. Trouble finds him of all places at the symphony, where a suspicious death requires his attention. And the dying wish of an old man forces them far from their much anticipated honeymoon. Their personal plans must now take a back seat to their new destination of Highlands, North Carolina. But once again, Morgan is forced to pull another dead body from a house fire, leaving him and Annie stuck there until the police can sort it out.
Meanwhile, Annie still suspects that her mother's death, declared heart attack by the doctor, wasn't of natural causes, and sets her mind to solving the mystery.
But what is a former Math teacher to do but play detective when a motherless young woman is accused of murder and a homeless dog needs her help to find a killer?
Annie and Morgan aren't leaving it all up to the police.
These amateur sleuths are taking matters into their own hands to catch a killer.
