Arizona Teal is a woman of incredible strength, determination, and skill. She is the sole survivor of her community, brutally attacked and murdered by a horde of drones on a plague-ridden planet that has been quarantined and forgotten by the rest of the universe. Teal must navigate this world of savagery and tribalism, all while trying to keep herself and her young daughter, California, alive.

As Teal and California journey through the desolate desert wasteland, they race against time to reach a tracking station that holds the key to Teal's late husband's destiny. But their journey takes a dark turn when California is kidnapped by Moscow, the ruthless warlord who murdered Teal's husband.

Determined to save her daughter, Teal must navigate this treacherous world, encountering a host of characters along the way, including a Governor and his pregnant wife, a blind priest, a one-armed dwarf, a Shaman, and a Scanner. These survivors and helpers all have their own stories and motivations, and Teal must use all of her skills to navigate their agendas and achieve her own goals.

As Teal fights to recover her daughter, she uncovers a terrifying truth. Moscow has set his sights on invading and plundering what remains of this infected planet, and he's been manipulating time to gain an advantage. Teal realizes that the key to Moscow's success lies in the tracking station, and she races against the clock to get there before he does.

The challenges that Teal faces are daunting. Violent and unpredictable electromagnetic storms sweep across the planet, the side effect of an altered and out-of-balance world. These storms provide Moscow with the tools he needs to expand his empire, slipping through time to extend his reach and fix his sights on the tracking station. But the keys to escaping the planet lie in the station signals that are rapidly fading, and Moscow doesn't have a map.

What Moscow does have is California, Teal's daughter. He believes that she holds the code that will give him control of the station and allow him to escape the planet. In a final showdown, Teal faces off against Moscow and realizes that she has lost the daughter she once knew through the ravages of time. She must make the ultimate sacrifice to ensure a bright future for the rest of the survivors.

As the dust settles and the hopeful community reunites, Teal realizes that even in the darkest of times, there is still hope. She understands that the alternative to a world of plague and destruction is a great deal worse. Through her strength, her determination, and her courage, she has shown that the human spirit can endure even the most dire of circumstances.
