Resumen del Editor

He Called Me Tin is a story of triumph and perseverance. From childhood distress to an attempt at suicide to being scarred by religion to being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis to the strife of racism and discrimination as a government employee to being assaulted and nearly kidnapped abroad, she has overcome in peace...Dr. Adrienne is an award-winning millennial, one of the world’s leading health informatics scientists, and a courageous global citizen. However, beneath her professional, serene, and bold persona lives a remarkable journey of steadfastness once coated with ambiguity. Bravery and hope prevail....

Dr. Adrienne shares vulnerable accounts of how one nickname shaped her experiences in 12+ disparate countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. She hopes to influence women of color, STEM professionals, (dis)abled warriors, veterans, spiritual journey seekers, global travelers, and anyone who wishes to embrace the best in all obstacles...welcome to a tenacious quest.

My favorite read all year!!!

This was such a great read! So inspiring and raw! As I read, I felt I was a part of her journey! I loved how she shared the realities and challenges of being a black woman in the health industry and how she overcame them! She could not have been more real and raw of how she became the woman she is today. This book is a true testament to living to your full potential no matter what the circumstances or challenges you face! This book has changed my outlook in so many amazing ways! I am so grateful that she was able to share her experiences with others!!!

Superb storytelling!

I could not stop listening to Dr. Hunter's recount of what it is like to return to the continent of her ancestors, to share the technical insights of her profession, to create memories with her beloved family and to expand her horizons beyond what she had imagined for herself. On this magnificent journey, Dr. Hunter would be stunned by a familiar encounter, with what I'd like to call, that old oppressive THUMB. It is ready to squash the spirit, courage and ambitions of those who dare! He Called Me Tin makes for a great summer read or road companion!

What a brave, strong woman!

Dr. Hunter is an inspiring woman of color who lets us into the struggles of not only being an African American but being an African American woman in a high position. The rawness and vulnerability made this book hard to put down! Lots of moments here that gave me chills. Definitely looking forward to reading more from her in the future. May God bless her and all her life’s work!
