Hate Evil

Has the devil gained a foothold in society because we have failed to be angry? Love and hate are not in opposition to one another! Love and hate must to be united in action if we are to overcome the evil that our world is facing. Pastor Chris shares his journey since the COVID-19 shutdowns, and the personal challenges he faced within his community. Many believers have backed down from the fight because they fear looking angry or mean to the world. The enemy knows that we are good at love, but not at hate. But there is, “…a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace” (Ecclesiastes 3:8). Paul writes to the Ephesians to be angry and sin not. I always assumed the sin Paul was referring to was out-of-control anger. But what if the sin is our failure to be angry? Is our lack of possessing strong emotion giving the devil a foothold in our society? Charles Spurgeon reminds us, “To hate a man for his own sake, or for any evil done to us, would be wrong; but to hate a man because he is the foe of all goodness and the enemy of all righteousness, is nothing more nor less than an obligation.” King David felt the same way. "Oh that you would slay the wicked, O God! O men of blood, depart from me! They speak against you with malicious intent; your enemies take your name in vain. Do I not hate those who hate you, O LORD? And do I not loathe those who rise up against you? I hate them with complete hatred; I count them my enemies" (Psalms 139:19-22)
