Turning the envelope over, his hand trembling, Harry saw a purple wax seal bearing a coat of arms; a lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake surrounding a large letter 'H.’
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!
Having become classics of our time, the Harry Potter stories never fail to bring comfort and escapism. With their message of hope, belonging and the enduring power of truth and love, the story of the Boy Who Lived continues to delight generations of new listeners.
Available in Dolby Atmos on Audible.

They really overdid the background noises though. There's constant heavy breathing, gasping, groaning, etc. It's fine to have it occasionally in the right scenes, but it's done so much it becomes annoying. It also makes Harry a bit of a pansy. Book Harry is pretty tough, but when the book only mentions Harry's scar hurting, the audiobook adds a scream of pain. It's frustrating. Harry is a lot more stoic than that.
Lastly, it's wonderful to hear everyone pronounce Voldemort's name correctly.
Great voices, annoying background noises

This new *Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (Full-Cast Edition)* is a fantastic experience — but it’s not perfect.
The cast is phenomenal, bringing Hogwarts to life in a vivid and emotional way. If you’re listening to *Harry Potter* for the first time, this is the version to choose. It’s easily the most immersive way to experience the story.
That said, the production leans a bit too heavily on the narrator. The narration is excellent, but in a full-cast audio drama, the focus should be on performance and sound design. Sometimes the narrator explains what a character feels instead of letting the actors’ delivery or atmosphere convey it. Ideally, narration should only appear when it’s essential.
For example, when Ron asks Harry if he’s met Draco Malfoy, we hear the narrator say Harry explains it, instead of Harry saying, “I met him in Madam Malkin’s.” Similarly, during the Quidditch match, Madam Hooch’s penalty is narrated rather than spoken, which breaks immersion slightly.
There are also a few moments where the background mix could be stronger — like when Scabbers bites Goyle’s finger on the train.
Despite these small issues, this full-cast edition is a magical and fresh way to experience *Harry Potter*. The cast and narrator are outstanding, and while not flawless, it’s absolutely worth your time.
