Great Narration

Great story. Narration reminded me of Fourth Wing in several places. Couldn’t believe it wasn’t same narrator. Story is interesting and will definitely give this another listen before the next book comes out in Aug 2027. Great angst.

This book was great. I am very excited about the world that Arden and Bishop live in. 4 stars for performance because I believed it be dual/duet narration, it is a single narrator for 99% of the book and the male narrator at the end.

I was still reading this on release day and was really enjoying it, so I went ahead and grabbed the audio too so I could immersive read the rest! Abigail did SUCH an amazing job with this narration!! I'm so glad I got to listen because she gave us all the emotion to bring the story to life and made it even more enjoyable! We spent get to hear much from Zion, but what we did get was excellent and I hope we get more in the next book! Audio note: My brain needs faster speeds for audio and this narration/recording sounded great at higher speeds.

Holy wow! This book was so amazing! It sucked me in with the world building and tension from the beginning and kept me enthralled! I felt all the emotions and laughed and cried and kicked my feet! Getting to see Arden's journey from being a practical minded, tough and capable farmer through the ritual that shattered her life just made me want to hug her and cheer her to keep going. And oh, Bishop is such a yummy, grumpy, and secretive new book boyfriend! The final parts had me absolutely on the edge of my seat! Gah, that ending!! Omggggg. GENEVA! Safe to say I am absolutely feral for the next book!

Great another unfinished series added to my long list- NO spoilers review -

Went into this blind based off an ad on IG and damn! so glad I did. New to author and I loved it. The story flowed beautifully.

Narrator did a fantastic job conveying the emotions of the characters. maybe I’m a little spoiled with duet narration, but I wished it was.
Will absolutely be on the look out for the next book.

Up and Down

I struggled with the so called "slow burn" aspect of the book. Everytime I would start to feel some sort of chemistry or passion, a bucket of cold water was poured over the MMC and FMC. On and off, on and off, on and off. The feelings get snuffed out so many times that it's hard to maintain hope for them as a couple. I was pulled in at first but DNF with 4 hours left. It's unfortunate but I couldn't take the games anymore and lost interest.
