Christmas, Bavaria, 1634
As the Thirty Years' War raged across Europe, hysteria, famine, plague and typhus spread throughout the land, killing millions. Thousands more would die in the flames, accused of witchcraft and conspiring with the Devil. Amongst the destitute, Hansel and Gretel are abandoned by their mother and ailing father - forced to survive the frozen wilderness. After battling against natural and supernatural entities, the two siblings cross paths with an old woman, who invites them to stay inside her mysterious house made of gingerbread, where nothing is as it seems and they are soon forced to fight for their survival.
Hansel and Gretel explores the pagan origins of Christmas with the familiar tale of two children battling an evil witch, and other well known fairy tales, cleverly interwoven to create one unique tale of adventure, dread, and deep, unsettling horror.

Well done story!
This book was really well done. I loved how so many fairy tales were horrifically weaved throughout the book. Plus, each one had its own creative spin on it. The writer did a great job of creating a claustrophobic and creepy atmosphere. Don't be a trouser pooper. Grab your copy today! - Serenity Barber
