Inspector Rafael Fabelo, a young police officer in the city of Las Palmas, faces a complex case when the body of a Portuguese man is found on Triana Beach in March 1935. Though the initial clues lead him nowhere, a second murder in the city market raises the stakes. Both crimes share the same modus operandi, and Fabelo suspects they are tied to the shadowy world of sports betting in the city's vela latina sailing competitions. At the same time, Fabelo is deeply aware of the social and political tensions of 1930s Spain. From that moment on, Fabelo's life is upended, forcing him to make crucial decisions that will change him forever. As he battles fascist repression, the betting case, which he thought was solved, reemerges, forcing him to confront his past once again.
