After the death of Alonzo, Sheeba and Debbie start a non -traditional church where the focus is on buying the block, repairing the children, and revitalizing a community they once destroyed. They are met with opposition by Mason Dollar, a corrupt minister building a twisted empire of lies, greed, and pimping our Lord and savior. Mason has an affinity living on the wild side, as witnessed in his lust for high end prostitutes, preaching ratchet sermons, getting into chaotic relationships, and beefing with his broken daughter. Whereas Sheeba and Debbie fight to create a church that makes a difference in the hood, Mason sees his people as a resource for financial gain, easy access to sex, and the illusion of status.
We later learn that Mason started as a respectable young man, ruined by corrupted classmates, broken women, and a Las Vegas prostitute that took his virginity at an advanced age. During a week with Sunshine Lewis he learns the art of pleasing women, as well as using spectacle and drama to create wealth. That night what may have been a civilized black man who built his people became a lost nigga that destroyed them. From this moment forward the reader is taken on a thrilling and insightful journey they won’t forget.
Will Mason and Debbie ever reach an agreement? Will sexual allegations that rise against Mason Dollar stick? What is the most famous minister in America like behind closed doors? What would the general public think if they knew the truth? Does the hood really want healing or just another ratchet church? Is modern religion merely a spectacle? Are todays ministers just putting on a show? Will the church ever be what it once was?
These questions and more are answered in Half Sista, Half Savage 4: Born Again Freaks, a look into religious corruption, and the people who make it happen. A must read.
