Selma, Alabama native Kathryn Tucker Windham shows the winsome storytelling ability that gained her national attention on NPR's All Things Considered in these reflections on her childhood. Whether she's reminiscing on piano lessons or the early morning sounds of birdsong and vendors selling vegetables, Windham's Southern drawl creates a winning specificity to her anecdotes, enhancing the authenticity and details along with the incidental sounds that accompany her stories. Grits is a warm collection, and a testament to Windham's love of the simpler days spent growing up in the South.

Beautiful
I purchased all the available copies of this author’s audiobooks. They’re all very short but so good. Love listening to her accent and stories of the South from many decades ago. Excellent.
