Resumen del Editor

In Red Mars, Kim Stanley Robinson imagined a near future in which humankind established the first colonies on Mars and began to make the planet inhabitable for humans. In this stunning sequel to that Nebula Award-winning novel, Robinson takes the colonization of Mars to a new generation, with a new set of problems and concerns.

The initial Martian pioneers had fierce disagreements about how the planet should be used by humans. This led to a war that threatened the lives of billions of people on both Mars and Earth. Now, the second generation of settlers continues the struggle to survive the hostile yet strangely beautiful environment of the red planet. Their decisions and actions will ultimately determine whether Mars will simply be a sanctuary for scientists, a source of raw materials for Earth, or something much more.

Richard Ferrone's robust narration of this thrilling, timeless tale captures the fascinating diversity of Robinson's compelling characters, taking listeners to the farthest frontier of humanity's struggle to survive.

"This may well be Robinson's best book and possibly the best of the many and various our-future-on-Mars novels to date." (Booklist)
"Yet another masterpiece....I can't imagine anybody else staking out any portion of this immemorial dreamscape with the same elegant detail and thoroughness; it's Kim Stanley Robinson's now and for a long time to come." (Science Fiction Age)

Inconceivable!

I really enjoyed Red Mars and wanted to continue the series. I must say, while this was not quite as intriguing as the first book, it was still a very well written and enjoyable continuation. The detail could be monotonous for some (you probably already know whether or not this series is right for you from the first book haha), but I love the detail, it feels like a future documentary in a lot of ways. On occasion, I found myself needing to rewind some sections that were a little dry or when following some of the characters who were not quite as interesting as others and would lose my attention. I'm looking forward to the Blue Mars next!

Engaging... more so than book one

In book 2 ( Green mars) I felt a better connection with the characters more storyline, faster pace, less Classroom lecturing; I actually find myself looking forward to the 3rd book.

A wonderful follow on to Red Mars!

A truly satisfying second installment in the Red Mars saga. The broad development of modern concepts in a wide range of scientific disciplines continues to be mid expanding, providing a believable and exhilarating ride through a Mars development process that is incredibly convincing. Again, Elon Musk eat your out!

It gets better then the first one!

Well you have to listen to the first book "Red Mars" before this one thats for sure

This is even better then the first book, still has old people sex which is strange and nasty imo - there are changes to the planet Mars and now green stuff grows all over it - Many of the "First 100" are killed in the first book and there are about 40-something left

The biggest problem I have with these books is that there is a group of people called the "Reds" who want Mars to never be touched and hate the fact that its being terraformed, they try to stop it at every chance they can get and its just stupid because thats the point of going to Mars not to study it

There are some things that dont make sense at all, like how is everythign paid for, they effing destroy both moons of Mars and then replace them altter, this is just crazy to understand since Earth is sorta all messed up and overpopulated and wants to come to Mars to live which is causing problems

I liked this book better then the first one because it was more exploring the planet and less other stuff, the politics are boring and some of the science is sorta questionable given its age but all in all its a great story and a must read

Decent story, dry narration

The story is unfortunately rather slow simply due to amount of detail that Kim puts into it. the narrator, however, makes this story drier than Isidis Planitia in M year 1.

enjoyed the story but could have been edited

I enjoyed the story but there were times when I didn't even have to listen just let it run and still know what was going on. I appreciate good descriptions but there were way too many and way too detailed. Always glad when there was a little more action and a little less looking around by the characters. I will read the next book just to see how everything pans out.

great book

my only complaint is the 4 hour chapter on science. it's about as compelling as attending a conference on the chemistry of atmospheric pressure... because that's what it basically is. but wow, the story is epic. I was also hoping the new character Art would develop further. I assume he'll be back in Blue Mars.

I think its my favorite

it can't stand on its own, but if you loved red mars and the world as the character, politics as dialogue with the characters as pov of the world then it works wonderfully.

Terrible narration

The narrator voiced The Coyote like a cartoon character. It was so bad, I couldn't finish listening. But I want to finish the story, so I'll be getting the paperback. Thank goodness this was included in the Audible subscription so I didn't waste a credit on it.

Better than the first book

To me the characters were much more interesting, likeable and believable in this second book of the series. I had a hard time finishing the first one, but I'm glad I did.
