Everyone knows who they are. This is how they began.

She was never meant to be a soldier.
She was meant to keep things running.

Grace Marrow grew up in the machinery of the Coalition—refineries, conduits, temporary fixes that were expected to last forever. She learned early how systems failed, how pressure built, and how to see problems before alarms ever sounded. Being underestimated kept her useful. Being useful kept her alive.

Then the work brought her too close to the Vanguard.

Pulled from the margins into support roles no one trained her for, Grace finds herself operating where doctrine breaks down and improvisation becomes survival. Training teaches her sequence. Missions teach her consequences. And war teaches her that fixing systems sometimes means stepping directly into the blast.

She doesn’t chase glory.
She doesn’t ask for a place on the line.

But when everything starts to fail, she’s already there.

This is the story of how an engineer became Grassie.
