A great friendship

This book really made me interested in the western theater of the civil war. Crazy times, man.

Disappointing

Too shallow. Could have been twice the length. Not enough meat. It does whet the appetite for a more substantial biography.

Exceptional!

Floods books bring forth the truth about these men, no matter what side of the war. He presents the human side as well as the war.

An exceptional author who researches thoroughly and writes exceptionally.

A must for any Civil War book collection.

Enjoyed the information & perspective of Grant & Sherman's relationship. Offputting was the narration by the author who doesn't have the voice or acting ability to make the story compelling.

The story of two of the greatest military leaders in US history

It was a good overview of these two men and their relationship. While interesting it was a bit short on detail at what I would consider critical junctures by leaving out actions.
