Small town politics just got deadly.

Lena Larsen thought the biggest challenge of the evening would be accepting a civic award without tripping over her own feet. She was wrong.

When the lights go out during her ceremony at New Oslo City Hall, Lena finds herself literally stumbling over the mayor's dead body—strangled with the very ribbon meant to honor her crime-solving skills. Talk about twisted irony.

With her boyfriend Sheriff Mark Hansen leading the investigation and her best friend Charlie providing moral support (and baked goods), Lena dives into a web of small-town politics, corruption, and long-buried secrets. The city council members all had reasons to want Mayor Swenson dead, but which one turned from political opponent to cold-blooded killer?

Good thing Lena has her grandmother's ghost offering advice from beyond the grave. Because in a town where everyone has something to hide, she's going to need all the help she can get.

This story had nothing to do with the title. I've listened/read all previous titles in this series and the idioms in this one were overwhelming. I hope the next corresponds with the title and the idioms are fewer. I really enjoyed all prior books. This one just didn't hold muster.
